Vivian Hansen (Calgary)

Vivian Hansen

Vivian Hansen is a Calgary writer, poet and activist. Her fiction and nonfiction has appeared in many anthologies, most recently in The Madwoman in the Academy and Writing the Terrain. She has recently edited a collection of poetry entitled Rubbing-Stone: A Nose Hill Anthology. Her chapbook Never Call It Bird: the Melodies of Aids came out in 1998. Her 1st full-length book of poetry Leylines of My Flesh is a work about Danish immigration to western Canada. Angel Alley, a chapbook about the victims of Jack the Ripper, came out in 2004. Her most recent poetry manuscripts are: A Tincture of Sunlight, a love story for Old Man, and A Bitter Mood of Clouds, the story of Arne Petersen, who received sex reassignment in Denmark in 1953. Vivian is currently enrolled in the Low-Residency MFA (Creative Writing) program with the University of British Columbia.
