One of the pioneers of the SLAM poetry scene in Canada, Andrea Thompson’s performances are electric and unique – blending elements of jazz, dub, hip-hop and traditional literary verse into a style all her own. A popular performer at venues and festivals across North America, Thompson’s work has been featured on film, radio, and television; and included in magazines, literary journals and anthologies across Canada. Her spoken word CD One, was nominated for a Canadian Urban Music Award in ‘05. Thompson is the host of Season 2 of the 13-part television series, Heart of a Poet (2007, Bravo TV), was co-host of CiTr radio's half hour spoken word show, Hearsay, and as Executive Director of the Edgewise Electrolit Centre, hosted and produced Telepoetics, a video-conferenced live poetry series in Vancouver.
