Vivian is a poet and creative nonfiction writer. She is a creative writing instructor with the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. She has taught poetry and facilitated writing workshops with the John Howard Literacy Initiatives, and Inn From the Cold. Her first chapbook “Never Call It Bird – the Melodies of AIDS” was released in 1998. She published her first book “Leylines of My Flesh,” in 2002 with Touchwood Press. “Angel Alley – the Victims of Jack the Ripper” came out in 2004. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC. “A Bitter Mood of Clouds” (Frontenac House 2013) chronicles the life and times of Arne Petersen, a transgender Dane who received sex reassignment in Denmark in 1953.
