FEBRUARY 15, 2012 DEADLINE!

The Calgary Spoken Word Festival is thrilled to present the sixth annual soon-to-be-prestigious Golden Beret Award as part of the 2012 Festival in April. The Golden Beret Award will be given to a Canadian Spoken Word artist who has made a substantial contribution to the development of the discipline, through their own writing/performance works, and their involvement in the community-at-large.

The selection committee will evaluate candidates based on the following qualities: originality of creative process, mastery of the genre, innovation, quality of writing, use of new technologies, contribution to community, and openness to diverse voices.
