Sometimes called The Mama of Dada, sheri-d wilson (poet, playwright, performer, filmmaker, essayist and educator) is internationally-renowned for her jazz-infused performance style, laced with a dangerous wit.
sheri-d has six collections of published poetry, most recently Re:Zoom, which won the 2005 Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Best Alberta Poetry Book. Of the beat tradition, she studied at Naropa, The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics in Boulder, Colarado. She won the Heavyweight of Poetry USA title in a 2003 Bumbershoot Bout against Andrei Codrescu. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival and a founding member of SWAN (the Spoken Word Arts Network). |
